Aim and research questions

Normally, when you write a master thesis or something similar, you have a section with an introduction to the topic and a background consisting of previous research as well as relevant theories, before going in to the specific aim and research questions that you want to investigate. Because this example mainly covers the methodological aspects of a thesis, we will not go into detail on the introduction sections, but go straight for the aim and research questions of our example.

The aim is to investigate the relationship between exposure to bullying and health issues among young individuals.

The research questions are as follows:

  • Is there a relationship between exposure to bullying and health problems?
  • Does the relationship persist after accounting for sex, grade level, foreign background, family type, and the number of relocations?
  • Does the relationship between exposure to bullying and health problems differ between boys and girls?
